RHEL Engineering is moving the tracking of its product development work on RHEL 6 through RHEL 9 to Red Hat Jira (issues.redhat.com). If you're a Red Hat customer, please continue to file support cases via the Red Hat customer portal. If you're not, please head to the "RHEL project" in Red Hat Jira and file new tickets here. Individual Bugzilla bugs in the statuses "NEW", "ASSIGNED", and "POST" are being migrated throughout September 2023. Bugs of Red Hat partners with an assigned Engineering Partner Manager (EPM) are migrated in late September as per pre-agreed dates. Bugs against components "kernel", "kernel-rt", and "kpatch" are only migrated if still in "NEW" or "ASSIGNED". If you cannot log in to RH Jira, please consult article #7032570. That failing, please send an e-mail to the RH Jira admins at rh-issues@redhat.com to troubleshoot your issue as a user management inquiry. The email creates a ServiceNow ticket with Red Hat. Individual Bugzilla bugs that are migrated will be moved to status "CLOSED", resolution "MIGRATED", and set with "MigratedToJIRA" in "Keywords". The link to the successor Jira issue will be found under "Links", have a little "two-footprint" icon next to it, and direct you to the "RHEL project" in Red Hat Jira (issue links are of type "https://issues.redhat.com/browse/RHEL-XXXX", where "X" is a digit). This same link will be available in a blue banner at the top of the page informing you that that bug has been migrated.

Description mlessard 2015-02-19 15:57:20 UTC
Description of problem:
With Spice, when we connect to a Windows 7 sp1 vm (32 bits) (with 4 monitors) with a resolution of 2500 * 1600, the characters are very blurry. We also experiencing freezing.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
RHEV 3.5
Virtual machine : Windows 7 sp1 32 bits
Workstation Host OS : Windows 7 sp1 32 bits

How reproducible:
Just tested on a single RHEV environment

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Install a Windows 7 sp1 vms (32 bits) on RHEV 3.5 with 4 monitors
2. From a Windows 7 workstation, console to the VM
3. Set the resolution of the 4 monitors to 2500 * 1600
4. Move an application between the 4 monitors

Actual results:
The characters are very blurry.
The console session get freeze. We need to use another computer to connect to the session to retrieve the session back. The vm is not freezed, but spice is.

Expected results:
Characters should be clear. No freeze should happens. We tested in a lower resolution (1700 x ...) and characters are clear, and no freeze happened.

Comment 2 Yvugenfi@redhat.com 2015-02-22 10:15:39 UTC
Regarding the blurry characters - are you using physical monitors with 25X16 resolutions or greater?

Best regards,
Yan.

Comment 3 mlessard 2015-03-03 13:21:03 UTC
Yan,

Presently, they use those workstations at that resolution and it's not blurry.

Comment 5 Kirill Moizik 2015-03-04 09:43:39 UTC
Hi,
1) Please check out printscreen, is this what you call blurry ?
if yes it caused by difference between host and guest resolution.
2) Please ellaborate on bug reproduction frequency and vm details, cpus, memory etc.
Thanks,
Kirill

Hi Kirill,

Please attach the source code of the application too.

Thanks.

Comment 36 Red Hat Bugzilla Rules Engine 2015-10-20 15:40:08 UTC
Target release should be placed once a package build is known to fix a issue. Since this bug is not modified, the target version has been reset. Please use target milestone to plan a fix for a release.

Comment 37 Sandy Stutsman 2015-10-20 19:37:54 UTC
This bug will be addressed under the following RFE:

Comment 38 Sandro Bonazzola 2015-10-26 12:49:29 UTC
this is an automated message. oVirt 3.6.0 RC3 has been released and GA is targeted to next week, Nov 4th 2015.
Please review this bug and if not a blocker, please postpone to a later release.
All bugs not postponed on GA release will be automatically re-targeted to

- 3.6.1 if severity >= high
- 4.0 if severity < high

Comment 40 Yaniv Lavi 2016-05-09 11:03:26 UTC
oVirt 4.0 Alpha has been released, moving to oVirt 4.0 Beta target.

Comment 43 David Blechter 2016-05-10 14:12:23 UTC
Pavel,

please verify with spice qe setting of 4*(2560x1600) on windows 7 VMs

Comment 44 Pavel Grunt 2016-05-12 10:30:22 UTC
I have no problems running 4*(2560x1600) on win7 client & guest. (I used rhevm3.6)

Bug 1244869 has similar symptoms - client (virt-viewer) freezes with high resolution. That bug is fixed in rhevm3.6 client
