Core RHEL6 already includes qwt-5.1.1-4.1.el6

(and by policy, epel cannot replace or update that)

Now, for fedora we had made efforts to make a qwt5 and qwt-6 packages parallel-installable, but I'm not personally willing to work on a new/different parallel-installable qwt6 (with qwt-5), and then come up with patches for all qwt consumers to adapt to that on older platforms (like el6).

I'll be happy to offer help, advice to anyone else willing to work on something like that though.

for example, here's the modifications to qwt5 we did, see:
http://pkgs.fedoraproject.org/cgit/qwt5.git/tree/qwt5.spec

and look for section starting with:
# hacks for parallel-installability with qwt(6)

I guess WONTFIX fits better

ie, I probably*could* do it, if I had ample time/interest, but I currently have neither, sorry.

No problem, thanks for your quick and informative response.

I could consider changing my mind, if there's some compelling use-case or reasoning you have?
