RHEL Engineering is moving the tracking of its product development work on RHEL 6 through RHEL 9 to Red Hat Jira (issues.redhat.com). If you're a Red Hat customer, please continue to file support cases via the Red Hat customer portal. If you're not, please head to the "RHEL project" in Red Hat Jira and file new tickets here. Individual Bugzilla bugs in the statuses "NEW", "ASSIGNED", and "POST" are being migrated throughout September 2023. Bugs of Red Hat partners with an assigned Engineering Partner Manager (EPM) are migrated in late September as per pre-agreed dates. Bugs against components "kernel", "kernel-rt", and "kpatch" are only migrated if still in "NEW" or "ASSIGNED". If you cannot log in to RH Jira, please consult article #7032570. That failing, please send an e-mail to the RH Jira admins at rh-issues@redhat.com to troubleshoot your issue as a user management inquiry. The email creates a ServiceNow ticket with Red Hat. Individual Bugzilla bugs that are migrated will be moved to status "CLOSED", resolution "MIGRATED", and set with "MigratedToJIRA" in "Keywords". The link to the successor Jira issue will be found under "Links", have a little "two-footprint" icon next to it, and direct you to the "RHEL project" in Red Hat Jira (issue links are of type "https://issues.redhat.com/browse/RHEL-XXXX", where "X" is a digit). This same link will be available in a blue banner at the top of the page informing you that that bug has been migrated.

Description Gianluca Cecchi 2015-04-01 14:45:00 UTC
Description of problem:
duplication of sections

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
7.1

How reproducible:
aways

Steps to Reproduce:
1. download pdf version of release notest for 7.1
2. open it
3. read

Actual results:
duplication of content

Expected results:
correct content

Additional info:

On page 25 (labeled 21 at bottom right) of pdf release notes the content section of
NUMA Node Memory Allocation Control
is not correct: it contains the same description as in the former
RDMA-based Migration of Live Guests

On page 60 (labeled 56 at bottom left) of pdf release notes there is this 3 bugs section:

kernel component, BZ#1097468
...
kernel component, BZ#1087796
...
kernel component, BZ#915855

They are duplicated equals in content some lines below.

The same happens for the section
system-config-kdump component, BZ#1077470

BTW: in all recent Red Hat pdf documents I cannot select and paste content correctly.
For example if I select the latest line above, I get this when I paste it:

system-co nfi g -kd ump co mp o n en t , B Z #10774 70

instead of

system-config-kdump component, BZ#1077470

It would be nice to be able to copy and paste.

Hi Gianluca,
Thanks for reporting these problems!

I have deleted the duplicate Known Issue BZs, and I have filed a separate bug against Publican to deal with redundant spaces in the pdf text:

https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1208560

Nevertheless, I could not find the "NUMA Node Memory Allocation Control" section that you mentioned. Could you check the recent version of the Release Notes at the Customer Portal and let me know if you still see it?

https://access.redhat.com/documentation/en-US/Red_Hat_Enterprise_Linux/

Cheers,
Jirka

Comment 3 Gianluca Cecchi 2015-04-02 21:56:16 UTC
In the pdf I downloaded yesterday, just before the beginning of Chapter 8, at the end of chapter 7, there was

RDMA-based Migration of Live Guests
.... description of feature ....

NUMA Node Memory Allocation Control
.. same description text of feature as in RDMA-based Migration of Live Guests ..

Now it seems that the part with
"RDMA-based Migration of Live Guests"
and its description is the terminal one of chapter 7 and the rest of the page is left blank.
I don't know if the "NUMA Node Memory Allocation Control" part had to be there: formerly it was there but with wrong description; now it is not there.
So I don't know if this is correct....

There is still the duplication entry and description about bug 1077470.. it's cross pages 61-62 (57-58 in bottom numbers). See screenshot here with evidence:

You checked it too quickly before we managed to republish the amended version to the Customer Portal :-) Nevertheless, it should be up-to-date now, and the duplications should be gone:

https://access.redhat.com/documentation/en-US/Red_Hat_Enterprise_Linux/7/html-single/7.1_Release_Notes/index.html

As for the "NUMA Node Memory Allocation Control" entry, it has been removed from the Release Notes as the feature is only available with qemu-kvm-rhev

Let me know if there are any other concerns

Cheers,
Jirka

I put further content in https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1208560
