Description Konstantin Svist 2015-04-07 20:42:03 UTC
Description of problem:
NetworkManager systray icon is not showing up since recent kernel update.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
NetworkManager-0.9.10.2-2.fc21.x86_64
kernel-3.19.3-200.fc21.x86_64

How reproducible:
every time

Steps to Reproduce:
1. set up NM connection to wifi network (problem does not seem to appear with wired)
2. boot up kernel-3.19.3-200.fc21.x86_64
3. log in

Actual results:
NM icon is missing. Connection appears to be present (as confirmed by ifconfig) but can't be controlled from the GUI.

Expected results:
NM icon must appear in systray

Additional info:
using XFCE environment, 4.10.1
systemctl restart NetworkManager -- does not help
reboot -- does not help
reboot to kernel-3.19.2-201.fc21.x86_64 -- works just fine
using a wired-only connection (at a different location) with any kernel -- works fine

This looks like a duplicate of bug 1208183. There is a regression in GTK3 (from 3.14.10) when used together with Xfce.
