From bz 1226454, the setting that Ceph needs in order to display the parent-clone relationship is "show_image_direct_url" -> "True".

(The help section for this configuration item shows "Revealing storage location can be a security risk, so use this setting with caution!" Maybe the docs need to elaborate on the exact risk, there.)

Charelle, this bug was reported against version 7, but we should also check later versions to see if this was fixed or removed.
