Another user experienced a similar problem: On KDE's System Settings, I changed the screen resolution from 1024x768 to 1920x1080. It worked for less than a second, then the X server crashed. I suspect this is an Intel driver bug, because of "crash_function: kgem_expire_cache" (GEM is a memory management software developed by Intel).
Any news on this? It still happened today to me with all the latest available updates installed. Makes it really hard to watch any video in full screen without losing all my work.
The other duplicate bug has a reference to a possible fix via the freedesktop bug <https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=91120>, but I neither see a correlation nor have tried it. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 1252660 ***
