Note: This bug is displayed in read-only format because
the product is no longer active in Red Hat Bugzilla.
RHEL Engineering is moving the tracking of its product development work on RHEL 6 through RHEL 9 to Red Hat Jira (issues.redhat.com). If you're a Red Hat customer, please continue to file support cases via the Red Hat customer portal. If you're not, please head to the "RHEL project" in Red Hat Jira and file new tickets here. Individual Bugzilla bugs in the statuses "NEW", "ASSIGNED", and "POST" are being migrated throughout September 2023. Bugs of Red Hat partners with an assigned Engineering Partner Manager (EPM) are migrated in late September as per pre-agreed dates. Bugs against components "kernel", "kernel-rt", and "kpatch" are only migrated if still in "NEW" or "ASSIGNED". If you cannot log in to RH Jira, please consult article #7032570. That failing, please send an e-mail to the RH Jira admins at rh-issues@redhat.com to troubleshoot your issue as a user management inquiry. The email creates a ServiceNow ticket with Red Hat. Individual Bugzilla bugs that are migrated will be moved to status "CLOSED", resolution "MIGRATED", and set with "MigratedToJIRA" in "Keywords". The link to the successor Jira issue will be found under "Links", have a little "two-footprint" icon next to it, and direct you to the "RHEL project" in Red Hat Jira (issue links are of type "https://issues.redhat.com/browse/RHEL-XXXX", where "X" is a digit). This same link will be available in a blue banner at the top of the page informing you that that bug has been migrated.
Description of problem:
In bug 1225720 we have updated the SLOF package to match the version used in the upstream qemu we're now based on. However, we need to updated the qemu-kvm-rhev spec file to pull in the new SLOF. Currently it has a hard version dependency on the old version
Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
qemu-kvm-rhev-2.3.0-6.el7

Checking the qemu-kvm.spec in the qemu-kvm-rhev-2.3.0-13 source package:
# grep SLOF qemu-kvm-13.spec
%global SLOF_gittagdate 20150313
Requires: SLOF = %{SLOF_gittagdate}
# Provided by package SLOF
- kvm-rhel-Update-package-version-for-SLOF-dependency.patch [bz#1236447]
(Update qemu-kvm-rhev package for new SLOF)
- Change SLOF Requires for the new version number
n-v-r, and 'dist' tag of SLOF, all to fix RHBZ#855252.
- add versioned dependency from qemu-system-ppc to SLOF (BZ#855252)
And also did the following experiments:
1. Host installed SLOF-20150313, qemu-kvm-rhev-2.3.0-13:
(1) Downgrade/Upgrade between qemu-kvm-rhev-2.3.0-12 and -13 successfully.
(2) Downgrade SLOF to SLOF-20140630 fail and prompt:
SLOF = 20150313 is needed by (installed) qemu-kvm-rhev-10:2.3.0-13.el7.ppc64le
(3) Downgrade qemu-kvm-rhev to qemu-kvm-rhev-2.3.0-7, fail and prompt:
SLOF = 20140630 is needed by qemu-kvm-rhev-10:2.3.0-7.el7.ppc64le
2. Host installed SLOF-20140630, qemu-kvm-rhev-2.3.0-7:
(1) Upgrade qemu-kvm-rhev to qemu-kvm-rhev-2.3.0-13, fail and prompt:
SLOF = 20150313 is needed by qemu-kvm-rhev-10:2.3.0-13.el7.ppc64le
Based on above, I will set the status to VERIFIED. Anything wrong, please fix me. Thanks.
