RHEV 3.6 provides an upgrade manager that allows administrative users to upgrade hosts more easily from the Administration Portal. An overview of this feature and procedure on how to use the new button and related window must be added to the new Upgrade Guide. NOTE: It appears this feature works for both RHEL and RHEV-H hosts. If so, it may replace the existing procedures, or those procedures may need to be rephrased to 'manually updating'.
Assigning to Tahlia for review. Tahlia - this is the new upgrade manager you noted during an earlier discussion. The attached URL provides a lot of information about the feature and should be a good reference in documenting it.
Based on our IRC discussion, made some minor edits to the cluster memory paragraph. Everything else looks good. I really like how you added in the relevant engine-config commands which puts them in good context. Verified. Cheers, Julie
Comments from RHEVM QE: * http://docbuilder.usersys.redhat.com/23117/#Updating_Red_Hat_Enterprise_Linux_Virtualization_Hosts 3.6 hosts would be rhel 7.2-based hosts (as default cluster level is 3.6 and this cluster level does not support rhel 6.x based hosts) thus: > Enable the Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization Hypervisor (v.6 x86_64) > repository would not pull rhel 7.2-based rhevh rpm. You want to have rpms form rhevh6 and rhevh7. > Select rhev-hypervisor.iso, which is symbolically linked to the most recent > Hypervisor image. There's no rhev-hypervisor.iso string in the list, there are just versions listed. Thus drop talking about symlink, it's not user visible anyway. > Click OK to update and reinstall the Hypervisor. So is it update and reinstall? For me update is not reinstall (logic in Admin Portal for actions around update|reinstall are wrong IMO. Also Reinstall in Admin Portal in fact re-deploy IIUC.) * http://docbuilder.usersys.redhat.com/23117/#Updating_Red_Hat_Enterprise_Linux_Virtualization_Hosts > # engine-config -s UserHostPackagesUpdateTimeInHours=48 ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ copy & paste issue
Could you please accommodate c#13 ? Thank you, P.
