Ping? I don't have any hopes for mpl 2.x, but Rawhide is about to branch for Fedora 24 in a few days, so it'd be nice to have mpl 1.5.1 at least.

Comment 5 Thomas Spura 2016-02-19 06:08:59 UTC
Last time, I tried to update, were sins hiccups such as bundled code and failing test suite (I can't remember off hand the exact reasons for not updating matplotlib)...

Co-maintainers are welcome...

Comment 6 Elliott Sales de Andrade 2016-02-22 02:39:06 UTC
Unfortunately, I can't help with maintainership since I'm not a packagers.

But I did look into it and it looks like the trouble is with Agg, which is now a checkout from svn. I've opened Bug 1310465 in the hopes that all Fedora's patches can be consolidated upstream and then when that package gets updated, matplotlib won't have any trouble using it.

Comment 7 Gwyn Ciesla 2016-03-02 15:10:12 UTC
Hi, agg maintainer, I think using bundled agg is the best option, and when you've done that I'll retire agg.

If you are interested in becoming a packager, I can help you with that :)

It seems building the html fails right now... :/
From http://koji.fedoraproject.org/koji/taskinfo?taskID=13553891:
+ /usr/bin/python2 make.py html
Running Sphinx v1.3.1
Configuration error:
The configuration file (or one of the modules it imports) called sys.exit()
Building HTML failed.

Comment 9 Gwyn Ciesla 2016-04-05 15:16:03 UTC
I think I've got it worked out. If so I'll get a build out, and if successful, retire agg.

Comment 15 Joachim Frieben 2016-04-07 19:10:29 UTC
It seems that Python module "cycler" is required by release 1.5.1, e.g. try sample script pcolormesh_levels.py. Please add python2-cycler and python3-cycler, respectively, as required packages to the spec file.
