Hi, I've noticed that i3 has a branch for EPEL7 and that long time ago a build has been attempted but failed (the logs are no longer available). Could be possible to re-try the build and work toward the correct functioning of i3 in EL7, please? Thanks a lot
Hi, I've opened requests for i3 commit permission as well as i3status and i3lock so I can help in building new versions (I've compiled 4.11 http://koji.fedoraproject.org/koji/taskinfo?taskID=11663257) and porting to epel. I hope those requests will be approved soon, so I can start to push stuff in the git repositories
(In reply to Fabio Alessandro Locati from comment #1) > Hi, > > I've opened requests for i3 commit permission as well as i3status and i3lock > so I can help in building new versions (I've compiled 4.11 > http://koji.fedoraproject.org/koji/taskinfo?taskID=11663257) and porting to > epel. Take a look at how many people already there in i3 pkgdb. 2. 4.11 will go to f24, no plan for f23 because f23 has been freezed. 3. Currently xkbcommon-x11 is not enabled in EPEL7, the status of whether enabling it or not is unknown, I can't build i3 "on EPEL7". Your koji build proved nothing on "EPEL7 i3". 4. If you always want to use the latest version of softwares, you probably need to switch the distro, or you should understand what I've said above. I will leave this open until RHEL guys decide to ship xkbcommon-x11.
Hi Christopher, thanks for the response. I'd like to make few points: 1. A big number of people does not necessarily means that are all active on the specific package 2. I build 4.11 against rawhide (F24) for this reason 3. I've spoke with rdieter in IRC chan and he confirmed that xkbcommon-x11 will come to EPEL7 as soon as RHEL7.2 is released 4. That's not my point and I think I've never written such thing My intention was to help out nothing more. If there is no need of my help over i3 packages I'll withdraw my ACL request.
We are now close to this target :) I've requested ACL as well for i3 so that we can soon be able to ship this package!
