RHEL Engineering is moving the tracking of its product development work on RHEL 6 through RHEL 9 to Red Hat Jira (issues.redhat.com). If you're a Red Hat customer, please continue to file support cases via the Red Hat customer portal. If you're not, please head to the "RHEL project" in Red Hat Jira and file new tickets here. Individual Bugzilla bugs in the statuses "NEW", "ASSIGNED", and "POST" are being migrated throughout September 2023. Bugs of Red Hat partners with an assigned Engineering Partner Manager (EPM) are migrated in late September as per pre-agreed dates. Bugs against components "kernel", "kernel-rt", and "kpatch" are only migrated if still in "NEW" or "ASSIGNED". If you cannot log in to RH Jira, please consult article #7032570. That failing, please send an e-mail to the RH Jira admins at rh-issues@redhat.com to troubleshoot your issue as a user management inquiry. The email creates a ServiceNow ticket with Red Hat. Individual Bugzilla bugs that are migrated will be moved to status "CLOSED", resolution "MIGRATED", and set with "MigratedToJIRA" in "Keywords". The link to the successor Jira issue will be found under "Links", have a little "two-footprint" icon next to it, and direct you to the "RHEL project" in Red Hat Jira (issue links are of type "https://issues.redhat.com/browse/RHEL-XXXX", where "X" is a digit). This same link will be available in a blue banner at the top of the page informing you that that bug has been migrated.

Red Hat Product Errata RHEA-2016:2347 0 normal SHIPPED_LIVE overpass-fonts bug fix update 2016-11-03 13:47:20 UTC

Description Oliver Ilian 2015-11-24 08:20:26 UTC
Could we get a update to the overpass-fonts package to incorporate (hinting):

https://github.com/RedHatBrand/overpass/commit/4458bf24ee2365b539a11eff529ae860246abfc8

This should improve the readability of the font.

Comment 1 Pravin Satpute 2015-11-26 10:21:27 UTC
Yes, we can.

Good to do this first in Fedora. Cloning for Fedora.

Comment 2 Pravin Satpute 2016-01-04 07:12:34 UTC
Done for Fedora, waiting for required ack to build for RHEL.

Comment 3 Oliver Ilian 2016-05-02 14:23:49 UTC
is there any progress in this case?

Thanks Oliver

Comment 4 Pravin Satpute 2016-05-02 15:51:46 UTC
Yes, I will build package this week.

Comment 5 Satyabrata Maitra 2016-05-05 08:03:47 UTC
As per devel's brief on functionality of this package, QE will add test cases accordingly and provide qe_test_coverage ack.

With overpass-fonts-2.1-1.el7 (hinting is incorporated now), one can observe glyph's outline with desired combination of pixels getting lit or turned on.

Thereby, overpass-fonts-2.1-1.el7 improves readability of text greatly, especially at small font size(s) and lower resolution(s).
