After fixing https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1320338, I was able to provision containers both internally and via an external docker server. Please make sure you have https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1320338 when you test.

As per comment #3 this cannot be tested until https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1320338 is in ON_QA state.

Thus FailedQA is not right, rather we say that testing is still blocked by BZ #1320338

Tazim, did you see any output from docker when you tried to provision a container via hammer? If not, then it sounds like Satellite is not connecting to Docker. This is usually a problem with your network/firewall/etc.

I'm tempted to make https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1243140 a blocker for this bug as fixing https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1243140 should make verifying bugs like this one easier.

Also, I don't think "-H 0.0.0.0:2375" will work. Would probably be better to use "-H 172.17.0.1:2375".

Another thing you can do to make sure Satellite is properly connecting to Docker is to go to your compute resource edit page and hit "Test Connection".

Can you verify that the Test Connection button works on your Docker compute resource?

The problem was that the docker repo didn't exist in the docker registry:

DEBU[0902] [registry] Calling GET https://index.docker.io/v1/repositories/library/docker_repo/images 
DEBU[0903] Not continuing with error: Error: image library/docker_repo:utopic not found 

I assume though that you wanted to use the katello repo 'docker_repo' in which case you have to supply the published docker repo name and not the katello name. To find the docker repo name, you go to the Docker Tags page, look up your tag, and find the Published At field. For docker_repo in Default Organization, this is "default_organization-test_prod-docker_repo". This worked for me:

$ hammer -u admin -p changeme docker container create  --name crafty_ruting$RANDOM --repository-name "default_organization-test_prod-docker_repo" --tag utopic --compute-resource docker --command "bash"
Docker container created
