Description of problem: ----------------------- Rather vague: The KDE desktop freezes for ~30 seconds after the panel shows a minized window after mouseover or the "start" menu is opened. According to the laptop's fan either the CPU or the graphics chips is pulling lots of energy while this happens. After unfreeze, everything is back to normal. Additionally, the "kscreenlocker_greet" may lock up after some time and needs to be manually killed -9 from secondary terminal. This happened after latest updates (around march 21). The hardware is rather obsolete but is basically an Nvidia chip: 01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: NVIDIA Corporation G96M [GeForce 9600M GT] (rev a1) Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): ------------------------------------------------------------- Not sure which element is involved How reproducible: ----------------- Always Steps to Reproduce: ------------------- 1. Mouseover KDE panel 2. Minized window pops up 3. High probability that the whole interface freezes
do you have xorg-x11-server-Xorg-1.18.2 from (now revoked/obsolete): https://bodhi.fedoraproject.org/updates/FEDORA-2016-ec12a9fe2f installed? If so, this is most likely a dup of bug #1317145 Please re-open if that's not the case. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 1317145 ***
Thanks Rex. Currently at xorg-x11-server-Xorg-1.18.2-2.fc23.x86_64 Will try to downgrade.
Just to complete this, downgrade definitely fixed the freezes although now sometimes it is inpossible to maximize application windows (in particular firefox application window) from the taskbar (the preview popup is fine though).
