Description Michal Skrivanek 2016-06-27 07:42:02 UTC
We should finally remove the RHEV specific strings in favor of oVirt
- rename the service name
- eliminate d/s only patches and reimplement the behavior in upstream
- upgrade on Windows and Linux should work
- vdsm channel name

There's probably more, please open follow up bugs on e.g. tools wgt iso when needed

Comment 1 Yaniv Lavi 2016-06-27 12:57:53 UTC
If we will need to change to RHV anyway, we can already change the ovirt and never change it again, please consider this as part of the priority.

Comment 2 Yaniv Lavi 2016-06-27 12:58:34 UTC
I suggest moving this to 4.0.

Comment 3 Michal Skrivanek 2016-06-27 13:01:06 UTC
Yes, the plan is (as with most things in the past) to move it to oVirt once and for all. However the changes are sensitive (e.g. the agent channel has implications on upgrade, same for WGT installer)
Ideally I would want to get rid of all d/s patches which were added over the time (e.g. starting service automatically for RHEV vs leaving it unstarted in oVirt)

Comment 4 Michal Skrivanek 2016-06-27 13:02:58 UTC
(In reply to Yaniv Dary from comment #2)
> I suggest moving this to 4.0.

I understand the sentiment, but we can't just do that in the last minute, sorry. It has too many dependencies as per the description comment. We started to work on that right away, but this should have been raised as a proper feature for 4.0 planning

Comment 6 Vinzenz Feenstra [evilissimo] 2016-10-05 09:12:45 UTC
Initial ovirt-guest-agent builds for EL6 and EL7 have been prepared and the repository is done.

Comment 8 Vinzenz Feenstra [evilissimo] 2016-10-05 10:14:09 UTC
Supplied patch to lev for differences

Comment 9 Vinzenz Feenstra [evilissimo] 2016-10-05 10:15:34 UTC
FYI: This rebranding is only for the Linux agents, not the Windows agent

Comment 11 Petr Matyáš 2017-01-26 09:33:06 UTC
Verified on 4.1.0-9

With an exception of upgrade, which doesn't work right now and which is tracked in bug 1416406
