Description of problem: Our local Fedora mirror was down today, and mediawriter couldn't download any images. That seems very suboptimal. Just because the closest mirror is down, or times out, or it returns 404 for the image you're looking for (which might happen quite often, not all mirrors are complete), we can't have mediawriter broken for all users from that area. Another manifestation of this issue is bug 1377628. Again, mediawriter should not fail with the first invalid mirror. If there's a network error with some mirror, just try another one. Thanks. Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): mediawriter-3.96.0-0.fc25.x86_64 Steps to Reproduce: 1. not sure how to reproduce easily. Maybe fake the metalink received from mirrormanager and redirect mediawriter to a location which is not accessible or returns 404
This is not only hard to test but to implement too. The way things are done now is relying on the main Fedora download server to point us to a server that may be best for us. I'm honestly not sure how to implement this in an other way... Ideas welcome!
Does this help? :-) https://mirrors.fedoraproject.org/mirrorlist?path=pub/fedora/linux/releases/24/Workstation/x86_64/iso/Fedora-Workstation-Live-x86_64-24-1.2.iso
It does! Thank you
