Description of problem: Red Hat Virtualization Hosts cannot be installed on an iSCSI LUN Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): 4.0 How reproducible: https://access.redhat.com/documentation/en/red-hat-virtualization/4.0/single/installation-guide/#part-Installing_Hypervisor_Hosts Steps to Reproduce: 1. 2. 3. Actual results: Red Hat Virtualization Hosts cannot be installed on an iSCSI LUN Expected results: Red Hat Virtualization Hosts should be installed on an iSCSI LUN Additional info:
Fabian, I suggest to move it to documentation component to update the RHVH guide. We had a couple of iSCSI installation bugs on anaconda during RHVH 4.0 beta, but the anaconda issues were fixed during RHVH 4.0 RC and GA, doc is not updated to let user know we support to install RHVH on iSCSI LUN. And in RHVH 4.0 RC and GA testing phase, we did not encounter basic installation issue on iSCSI LUN.
Thanks for the update Ying. I'm happy to change this bug to remove the comments frmo the docs. To support this, could you please provide some details about the hardware (what HBA and what SAN) you used for testign this?
Fabian, we support the hardware driver if platform support on RHEL 7.2. I prefer to remove the sentence "RHVH currently cannot be installed on an iSCSI LUN." in doc to avoiding misunderstanding the end user. Thoughts?
No objections of removing that statement. I just wanted to understand on what hardware this was tested.
According to comment 6 this bug is getting moved to docs to get this string removed from the docs.
Related: in 3.6 there was a note that said "If reinstalling over an existing instance on a multipathed iSCSI machine, remove the rd_NO_MULTIPATH kernel argument by pressing the Tab key after selecting the option to reinstall the host. This will help avoid potential installation errors." Is this true for RHVH in 4.0?
No, this is not needed and not true for RHVH 4.0
Thanks Fabian. Since removing one note is a simple change, I'll skip docs QA and push this out today.
