Description of problem:
xpdf (but also gv) show some fonts incorrectly (I will attach an
example). The problem seems to be with monospaced (e.g., courier) fonts

it looks like a rendering problem in freetype. xpdf-3.00 with freetype
2.1.4-4.0 does not have this problem.
