I've made a start by pushing an upstream docs patch describing usage of composable services and custom roles:

Another patch is in-progress which covers the specifics of the service plugin interface and other integration points e.g puppet-tripleo in more detail.

With combination of creating new roles (which we have in different section in docs), this is exactly it! Awesome, thanks a lot Dan!
