Note: This bug is displayed in read-only format because
the product is no longer active in Red Hat Bugzilla.
Red Hat Satellite engineering is moving the tracking of its product development work on Satellite to Red Hat Jira (issues.redhat.com). If you're a Red Hat customer, please continue to file support cases via the Red Hat customer portal. If you're not, please head to the "Satellite project" in Red Hat Jira and file new tickets here. Individual Bugzilla bugs will be migrated starting at the end of May. If you cannot log in to RH Jira, please consult article #7032570. That failing, please send an e-mail to the RH Jira admins at rh-issues@redhat.com to troubleshoot your issue as a user management inquiry. The email creates a ServiceNow ticket with Red Hat. Individual Bugzilla bugs that are migrated will be moved to status "CLOSED", resolution "MIGRATED", and set with "MigratedToJIRA" in "Keywords". The link to the successor Jira issue will be found under "Links", have a little "two-footprint" icon next to it, and direct you to the "Satellite project" in Red Hat Jira (issue links are of type "https://issues.redhat.com/browse/SAT-XXXX", where "X" is a digit). This same link will be available in a blue banner at the top of the page informing you that that bug has been migrated.
Assigning to Charles for review.
Charles - it looks like there might be two main parts to this bug.
1. Clarifying the level in the hierarchy the CDN URL should be in Step 6.,
changing Step 1. and Step 2. so that they state that content need be
made available over HTTP (remove Step 1.?), and add a note that a
repository can also be imported as a custom repo in a custom product.
2. Adding an appendix to the CMG that pulls in some of the information from
the blog post called out to provide a reference to how the CDN is
organized.
Re-assigning to Sergei for review.
Sergei - this is a bug that has already been worked on a little, so there is an existing branch and some early content that we can use as the basis for closing out this request.
This request is for a feature called inter-Satellite-sync, which allows you to copy content from one Satellite environment to another.
In the bug, we have been requested to provide some more detail about how this works. Specifically, what the 'URL' should be when pointing to the Satellite environment instead of the Customer Portal, and an overview of how content directories are structured.
What we need to do is incorporate the recommendations from comment #7 as follows -
* Check that the duplicate content has been removed.
* Check the UI and see if there are any further steps in the procedure.
* Move the content on the structure of the CDN to the Architecture Guide.
It is fairly broad conceptual information, so perhaps as a new chapter
under the current Chapter 3.? Let's also add a link to this from the section
in the Content Management Guide added via this bug.
When these changes have been made, raise a needinfo request here in Bugzilla against the reporter - David Juran - to see if the added content provides sufficient clarification.
Let me know if you have any questions!
