cf logs AND oc get images AND oc get images

Description of problem:
CF 4.2 has issues in showing the correct number of container images while working with OCP 3.4.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
CloudForms 4.2
OpenShift Container Platform 3.4

How reproducible:
After smartstate analysis on container image result in the CF page appear after valid scan reported on OCP.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Select container image in OCP provider
2. Perform SmartState and wait for result
3. Use the UI to reach the same container image and results are lost for packages and OpenSCAP results

Actual results:
Number of container images shown is much larger than images actually on OCP. Image id changes in the GUI attached to a single image name.

Expected results:
Correct SmartState analysis report shown

Additional info: none

Rinaldo,
I am not sure yet what happened with the images, but I noticed that none of the SSA scans completed successfully. It might be because the SmartProxy role is not enabled for this server ( I see that all scans hang on "collect_compliance_data" which needs this role set). Can you please double check that?

About the images: I couldn't find the result of "oc get images" in the file you attached but CF should collect some images that are not represented there and come from running pods (ie if a pod runs from an image not known from `oc get images` this image will also be collected)

Comment 3 Rinaldo Bergamini 2017-02-22 15:02:37 UTC
Hi Erez,

the "oc get images" log is in the "images.log" file, sorry for the misleading name.

The SmartProxy role is enabled in the zone "DB Zone" where the Openshift provider is running.

Thanks
Rinaldo

Hi Rinaldo,
Can you also give a description of what kind of images are the extra images that are created for you? I can't see this information from the logs.

Can you please see if this is a duplicate of https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1418590 ?

Comment 6 Rinaldo Bergamini 2017-02-24 14:46:59 UTC
Hi Erez,

Please see a new attachment with a CSV export of the container images listed in CF.

I can't understand if this is a duplicate of:
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1418590
But the image registry for Red Hat images changes often from registry.redhat.com to Unknown and viceversa many times.

Thanks for the help.
Rinaldo

Hi Rinaldo,

"

"
This sounds to me a lot like the problem from [1]. Can you check if you appliance has this fix?

Looking at the CSV export of the images I see that they have different digests. Do you run all those different images on pod or are they being updated in Openshift somehow?

Hi Rinaldo,
Any news? did you try the solution to https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1418590 ?

Comment 9 Rinaldo Bergamini 2017-03-02 15:30:34 UTC
Hi Erez,
I will have access to the whole environment tomorrow. Is this fix part of the 4.2.1 release? I manually updated the file but can do a proper yum update to 4.2.1 if this is part of it.

Thanks
Rinaldo

Comment 10 Erez Freiberger 2017-03-02 17:43:02 UTC
Hi Rinaldo,
Yes, as far as I can tell it is part of 4.2.1.
Erez.
