With the upcoming release of RHEL 7.4, the RHEL Samba package will move to a higher version number than the one currently packaged in RHGS. To prevent package conflicts, we should preemptively update our packages to a version more advanced than the one RHEL will take.
To maintain similar versions of samba for both the platforms(rhel6 and rhel7 )in RHGS , a rebase to samba 4.6 is required on RHEL6 based RHGS.
Samba build has been rebased to version 4.6.2.
Able to upgrade to version samba-4.6.2-0 from 3.2 over RHEL6 without any issue. Marking it as verified.
The above bug/RFE is verified on basis of package upgradation. However there is issue with smbd services not getting started and for which i have raised another bug - https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1444028
