Red Hat Bugzilla – 1429081 – Upgrade from OSP 8 to OSP 9 overcloud failed with error "Unable to complete operation on subnet: One or more ports have an IP allocation from this subnet." on multiple existing subnets
Upgrade from OSP 8 to OSP 9 overcloud failed with error "Unable to complete operation on subnet: One or more ports have an IP allocation from this subnet." on multiple existing subnets
Description of problem:
Customer used a wrong network-environment.yml file update the environment and failed. This created a few new networks. Then the customer deleted the wrong networks, and use the intended network template.
Current status: overcloud update fail with error: "Unable to complete operation on subnet 800c164e-df71-49cc-b61c-a19ead3adc35: One or more ports have an IP allocation from this subnet." on multiple existing subnets. as errors [1]
Noticed several bugs regarding the order of included templates in previous versions, variables may be overwritten and cause the exact nutron error as bz 1276204, 1257717. Given that customer is already on OSP 9 undercloud these bugs may not relevant. But might shed some lights on the current issue.
Tried to move network-environment.yml to a third place in overcloud deploy command but no luck.
The deploy command as bellow
[stack@cld1-director-0 cld1]$ cat upgrade.sh

Additional info:
There are ways to recover from this by editing the Heat database. However, provided that no other changes have been made since the last backup, it would certainly be easier and safer to restore the database from backup and proceed from there.
