Description of problem: sysstat doesn't collect data due to non existing /var/log/sa/ directory. It is a consequence of Bug 1382843 "RHV-H 4.0 does not have 'sysstat' installed" The problem is that upgrade provides installed sysstat package, however this package isn't configured properly, e.g. doesn't create /var/log/sa Only fresh installation setup everything what is needed for package Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): How reproducible: Steps to Reproduce: 1. install for example rhvh-4.0-0.20160817 2. upgrade to rhvh-4.0-0.20170201 3. wait some time to see there is no data collected Actual results: Cannot open /var/log/sa/sa22: No such file or directory no /var/log/sa/ directory Expected results: /var/log/sa/ is created, data is collected Additional info: Actually there is easy workaround, just create directory, however I am opening this bug to attract your attention, we could be affected more often by this. Most of customers doesn't realized sysstat data isn't collected. They realize when open a ticket and performance data is needed.
Test version: From: rhvh-4.0-0.20160817.0 To: rhvh-4.1-0.20170421.0 imgbased-0.9.23-0.1.el7ev.noarch Steps to Reproduce: 1. Install rhvh-4.0-0.20160817 2. Login rhvh-4.0 and setup local repos, upgrade to rhvh-4.1-0.20170421.0 3. Reboot and login rhvh-4.1-0.20170421.0, wait some time to check /var/log/sa Test results: /var/log/sa/ is created, data is collected. [root@ibm-x3650m5-04 sa]# pwd /var/log/sa [root@ibm-x3650m5-04 sa]# ls -lh total 32K -rw-r--r--. 1 root root 29K Apr 24 03:40 sa24 So this bug is fixed in imgbased-0.9.23-0.1.el7ev.noarch, change the status to VERIFIED.
