Description Lucy Bopf 2017-04-03 02:01:44 UTC
Serial console support for bare metal machines deployed by Bare Metal Provisioning (Ironic) has now been implemented using "socat", which provides nova-compatible serial console capability.

Changing internal whiteboard to reflect the value in the RFE that this is documenting (1347470 is DFG:compute). Also changing target release to OSP 11. If this is in our 11 program it needs to turn up in our 11 program BZ list.

Assigning to Mikey for review.

Hi Ramon,

This looks like the socat package is pre-installed on overcloud-full and ipmitool-socat is enabled by default on the overcloud for OSP13:

  IronicEnabledConsoleInterfaces:
    default: ['ipmitool-socat', 'no-console']
description: Enabled console interface implementations. Each hardware
type must have at least one valid implementation enabled.
    type: comma_delimited_list

Is this just a case of documenting the "openstack baremetal node" commands?
