Description of problem: Calendar pops up with a reminder. The popup selections will not allow me to dismiss or change the event reminder. Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): thunderbird-lightning-gdata-3.3.0.1-1.fc25.x86_64 thunderbird-52.0-1.fc25.x86_64 thunderbird-enigmail-1.9.6.1-1.fc25.noarch kernel-core-4.10.8-200.fc25.x86_64 How reproducible: Always. Steps to Reproduce: 1. Start thunderbird. 2. Wait for an event popup reminder and press "dismiss" button. 3. Actual results: New popup, which says "The item has recently been changed on the server. lightning is part of the main thunderbird package these days.
It is true that the calendar (lightning) is part of the thunderbird package these days, but I am talking about thunderbird-lightning-gdata which is an extension that allows Lightning to read and write events to a Google Calendar.
Please try to disable all addons but lightning and lightning gdata provider to see if the situation improves.
Have tried with all addons disabled (except lightning*). No difference. I have deleted a whole lot of files related to the calendar, including, storage.db, and "rm -rf calendar-data", and also "rm -rf ~/.cache/thunderbird". Now when I try to create a new calendar I get the following problem:- New calendar On the network Format: Google calendar Enter email address Select calendars & task lists you would like to subscribe to ----> this displays a completely different email address to the one for which I am trying to create a calendar. Note that I have previously deleted the email address which is being offered as a selection for the new calendar. No luck so far. I may have to delete everything and start again. I do have backups, and have restored from backups but I still get the original problem.
More info. Did an rsync backup of home directory. Deleted all thunderbird related data. Ran thunderbird and used an existing google account. Added the calendar that has been experiencing problems. Google calendar data appears as expected and works as expected. Now I need to figure out what data I need to delete in my original thunderbird setup so that I can restore all from backup. Any ideas? Thanks.
I backed up all mail data. Removed all thunderbird data ( ~/.thunderbird and ~/.cache/thunderbird). Restarted thunderbird and began from scratch. Recreated all email addresses and after exiting thunderbird, copied over all mailboxes to the new install and restarted thunderbird. Used the settings in thunderbird to point to the freshly copied mailboxes and all is OK. Recreated my calendars and everything is OK now. Probably not a bug (I have marked it as such). Perhaps some sort of data corruption?
Thanks for letting me know. That's probably problem with updating of lightning extension, so it's a kind of a bug, but I'm unable to reproduce it. I've proposed some hints how to fix it (if that's the case) by this comment: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1442836#c7 If you still have the profile backup, you can try it.
Thanks Jan. If you really want me to test it out for you I will, however I must say I'm not very keen considering I have spent the best part of two days messing about with this to get a working configuration. :)
No problem with that. Good if it's working for you.
Thanks for that.
This issue is here today and I'm using mail.com (not Google) as the remote back-end calendar repository. It's a Caldav connection using location https://calendar.mail.com/begenda/dav/uusseerr@mail.com/calendar/ TB was 45.8.0 but just now updated itself to 52.9.1 ....so just checking that the error transcends that. ....no, still there...it's a persistent bugger.
OK Sorted now for me. Kinda Fix or work-around (of sorts) ...you decide. Not the remedy... I switched off "show reminders" in the calendar properties....shut down TB, restarted and no reminders or "The item has recently been changed on the server" window appeared. switched on "show reminders" problem reappeared. Remedy.... Copied CalDAV URL into clipboard, Unsubscribed the calendar. Shutdown TB. Made a coffee. Restarted TB resubscribed with clip-boarded calDAV location. Shutdown TB. Restarted TB...3 reminders appeared. Hit dismiss all ....and yeh pop-up disappeared. BUT...next reload of TB and the "The item has recently been changed on the server." window returned... "Submit my changes anyway" continually failed to prevent it reappearing. "Discard my changes and reload" disappeared it... +++++++++++I'm Happy with that+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Ctrl shift j Error log appears vastly different and more sophisticated after this TB update. But my 3rdline support days finished 18 years ago and I've no interest in relearning all this stuff...happy to capture a log though if it might help and people think I still have enough of the issues left. Hope this has been useful..... ....it's not Google even if we want it to be.
