Description Benjamin Schmaus 2017-06-05 12:15:30 UTC
Description of problem:
With regards to performance monitoring (collectd), log aggregation (fluentd), and availability monitoring (sensu) there needs to be some clarity on what is fully supported. The understanding is that just the agents are supported but documentation leads customer to believe server side would also be included.

I think this is more likely an OpsTools question.

Anandeep, can you help us to clarify the support status of the tools in RHOSP 11, and make the documentation more clear, if needed?

The documentation is here:

https://access.redhat.com/documentation/en-us/red_hat_openstack_platform/11/html/monitoring_tools_configuration_guide/

Comment 2 Benjamin Schmaus 2017-09-01 02:12:30 UTC
Just to be clear the ask here, a lot of customers get confused on what is all supported and tend to assume the server side along with the clients are both supported.

Comment 3 Anandeep Pannu 2017-09-01 21:39:23 UTC
Benjamin

The tools were support are all client side, there is no server side tools supported.

Collectd for metrics, sensu for monitoring and fluentd for logging are supported.

I will get back to you with additional documentation to make it clear exactly what we support.

Comment 11 Benjamin Schmaus 2018-05-11 11:54:36 UTC
Will the documentation in OSP13 provide more clarity on what we cover from a monitoring perspective?

Comment 13 Chuck Copello 2019-10-22 15:09:28 UTC
Clearing needinfo flag.
