Description Bastián Díaz 2017-10-29 14:41:18 UTC
Created attachment 1345039 [details]
screenshot

Description of problem:
Evince does not display DjVu documents because they are badly recognized as images instead of multi-page documents.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
fedora workstation 27 (beta) with gnome 3.26.1
Evince 3.26.0

How reproducible:
Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Download a multipage DjVu document. Ex. http://djvu.org/docs/DjVu3Spec.djvu
2.Open with Evince

Actual results:
The document can not be opened, since it is alluded to that the image/vnd.djvu files are not supported (https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=754467)

Expected results:
The document is correctly recognized as a multipage DjVu and is displayed with Evince.

Additional info:

In the following report a developer mentions that Evince correctly recognizes the document in Debian (https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=787481) and friends who use Ubuntu (17.10) mention that it also works correctly, so I assume it is a specific distro issue.

Do you have evince-djvu installed ?

Yes, I even reinstalled Evince and the plugins to verify if it was an error, however, the system continues to recognize my documents as DjVu images and not multipage documents. For this same reason, gnome-photos recognizes the documents (if I move them to the folder ~/Images) and when trying to open them it closes unexpectedly.

Works fine here.What does

xdg-mime query filetype /path/to/a/multipage/djvu/file

say? (The expected result is "image/vnd.djvu+multipage".)

My case is the following:
xdg-mime query filetype /home/diazbastian/DjVu3Sp.djvu
image/vnd.djvu

I do not know what the problem is, even I restarted the tracker index.

Update:

It seems that this problem is very specific to my device and I am getting help from a gnome developer. It doesn't make sense to keep this ticket open. Thank you.

I'll call that closed upstream then

This is a duplicate of #1513188 "multipage djvu files are misidentified".
