Description Marcel Apfelbaum 2017-12-20 11:05:34 UTC
Currently selecting Q35 in UI is not sure friendly. Even before making Q35 the default x86 machine, let users to switch between machine easier.

Re-targeting to 4.3.1 since it is missing a patch, an acked blocker flag, or both

Comment 4 Nisim Simsolo 2019-01-30 13:34:05 UTC
IMO, setting Q35 is not sure friendly because of:
1. in edit VM dialog -> system tab -> the user need to extend "advanced parameters" option in order to set Q35 chipset.
also, because the user needs to extend it, he can't tell at first if the VM is Q35 or i440fx.
2. There is no correlation between "BIOS type" and "custom emulated machine" dropboxes, for example:
If you set 'BIOS type' => Q35 with SecureBoot, the 'custom emulated machine' remains i440fx (see attached screenshot for example).
This issue is also related to depends on bug https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1649847
