Hi Xie,

I am not able to reproduce this problem with a kvm import on my local system.
Maybe I do not have the exact setup that causes the issue in my guest.
Can you give me access to one of the guests with which the problem is reproduced so that I can import it into my engine?

Thanks,
Eitan
Comment 7 Meni Yakove 2018-01-08 03:53:18 EST
Xie, I believe that Eitan truly needs access to a KVM hypervisor from which you import your VMs. He could not reproduce the bug when importing from his KVM to his RHV-M-4.2. Can you provide him url+credentials to your hypervisor?

Comment 10 eraviv 2018-01-10 02:56:07 EST
Hi Xie,

I imported a half dozen of the vms on your kvm into my 4.2.2 master engine and all were successful with the nics displaying with the correct network after import.

Can you please try the import against the next d/s engine?

Thanks

Hi eraviv,

I see the latest engine version is 4.2.1-2 (bob.eng.lab.tlv.redhat.com/builds/4.2/), where packages I can use to update my rhv env to 4.2.2? Or could I use your rhv4.2 to reproduce this problem?

Thanks
Comment 12 eraviv 2018-01-10 05:24:00 EST
Hi Xie,

I believe you can start with http://bob.eng.lab.tlv.redhat.com/builds/4.2/rhv-4.2.1-1/ because it is from 05 Jan and we (nsimsolo@redhat and I) already tested on 07 Jan. Otherwise I believe there will be a build for 4.2.2 in the coming week.

thanks

Please retest with current engine.
Comment 15 mxie@redhat.com 2018-01-17 09:10:16 EST
Verify the bug with below builds:
rhv:4.2.1.1-0.1.el7
vdsm-4.20.13-1.el7ev.x86_64

Steps:
1.Import guest from vmware at rhv4.2 GUI
Login rhv4.2 -> click dashboard-> click virtual machine -> select import -> choose "vmware as source" and input vmware info-> load guests successfully -> select a guest to import

2.Click ok to import guest and network exists after importing

3.Also try to import guest from kvm/xen/ova/export source, guest's network exists after importing on rhv4.2

Result:
Guest's network exists after importing from vmware/kvm/xen/ova/export source on rhv4.2, but ipv4 and ipv6 are N/A even if guest could get ipv4 and ipv6 in os normally after powering on,pls refer to screenshot"ipv4-ipv6"

Hi eraviv,
Ipv4 and ipv6 are N/A in network interface even if guest could get ipv4 and ipv6 in os normally after powering on,do you think this is expected result?

Hi Nisim,

Can you have a look at MXie's question from comment 15 about the absence of ipv4\ipv6 after import?

What is the expected behaviour in this case?

Thanks
Comment 19 Nisim Simsolo 2018-01-21 04:09:37 EST
Hi Eitan and Ming

For some reason, the import dialog sets VMware original MAC address, although ovirtmgmt network profile is selected (Please see MAC_import_dialog.png and MAC_VMware.png screenshot attached).
In such case, the VMware MAC address is not in the range of RHV network profile, that's the reason VM is not receiving IP address.

Ming, can you please report a bug on this issue?

Thanks
