The problem re-appeared after recent update ============================================================= +++ This bug was initially created as a clone of Bug #1241594 +++ Description of problem: No work bluetooth in dmesg bluetooth hci0: Direct firmware load for intel/ibt-hw-37.7.10-fw-1.80.1.29.c.bseq failed with error -2 Bluetooth: hci0 failed to open Intel firmware file: intel/ibt-hw-37.7.10-fw-1.80.1.29.c.bseq(-2) How reproducible: Each launch notebook Steps to Reproduce: 1.run notebook 2.no work bluetooth 3. Actual results: Expected results: Additional info: notebook msi s12 wifi/bt adapter Intel® Dual Band Wireless-N 7260 --- Additional comment from on 2015-12-13 17:03:42 EST --- I have this same problem. It looks like the files in /usr/lib/firmware/intel/ibt-hw-*.bseq are within the linux-firmware package. Looks like it needs to be updated. Anyone know the procedure for that? --- Additional comment from on 2015-12-13 17:20:57 EST --- But if you look in the Linux kernel source tree, this file doesn't exist. Maybe Intel hasn't yet released this firmware? https://git.kernel.org/cgit/linux/kernel/git/firmware/linux-firmware.git/tree/intel --- Additional comment from Josh Boyer on 2015-12-14 08:53:34 EST --- (In reply to acutiator from comment #1) > I have this same problem. It looks like the files in > /usr/lib/firmware/intel/ibt-hw-*.bseq are within the linux-firmware package. > Looks like it needs to be updated. Anyone know the procedure for that? You file a bug against linux-firmware in bugzilla requesting an update. However, one was just done on Nov 30 and the specific file mentioned still doesn't exist upstream. The kernel is falling back to a more generic firmware file though. --- Additional comment from Tedd An on 2015-12-14 13:04:23 EST --- Hi, Where did you get that 7260 card? That's the pre-production engineering sample and we don't support that version of the card. --- Additional comment from on 2015-12-14 22:59:19 EST --- I bought mine on Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00DMCVKMU?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o04_s00 Has 709 reviews, so I imagine way more purchases than that. I can take a picture of the front of the card if you'd like more details on my specific one, but it does show up as a 7260 in Linux. --- Additional comment from on 2015-12-14 23:04:47 EST --- Additionally I remember comparing a bunch of Intel's wifi cards on their website, and there's an official page for the 7260: http://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/wireless-products/dual-band-wireless-ac-7260-bluetooth.html --- Additional comment from Tedd An on 2015-12-15 11:48:27 EST --- 7260 is supported product but the one that you have is "pre-production" version. bluetooth hci0: Direct firmware load for intel/ibt-hw-37.7.10-fw-1.80.1.29.c.bseq failed with error -2 Bluetooth: hci0 failed to open Intel firmware file: intel/ibt-hw-37.7.10-fw-1.80.1.29.c.bseq(-2) This string tells the version of FW running on your card and the one that you have is NOT official release version. Please provide the picture of your card, front and back. Regards, Tedd --- Additional comment from on 2015-12-16 10:52 EST --- --- Additional comment from on 2015-12-16 10:53 EST --- --- Additional comment from on 2015-12-16 10:53:52 EST --- I don't know if you get notifications about attachments, but I've attached a picture of the front and back of my card. Hopefully that clarifies what this hardware is. --- Additional comment from on 2015-12-16 10:54:34 EST --- Additionally, what should the 7260 currently be using for its firmware file? --- Additional comment from Tedd An on 2015-12-17 13:47:00 EST --- Hi Bryant, Thanks for the picture and I forwarded to the team who may can know more about the that card. 7260 uses one of these files depends on the card's FW revision. ibt-hw-37.7.10-fw-1.0.1.2d.d.bseq ibt-hw-37.7.10-fw-1.0.2.3.d.bseq ibt-hw-37.7.10-fw-1.80.1.2d.d.bseq ibt-hw-37.7.10-fw-1.80.2.3.d.bseq Regards, Tedd
that's weird. after I updated packages yesterday with kernel 4.14.14-300.fc27.x86_64 and rebooted everything worked fine. but began to fail again after the next reboot o_0
