Error in Postin scriptlet in rpm package texfonts --missing hebrew

Expected results:

Additional info:

version dated August 22,2018 20180822

The mentioned rpm is not in the F28 repositories. If it is in rawhide repository, then that particular font is missing from within the rpm

Comment 1 Panu Matilainen 2018-08-24 06:21:43 UTC
Scriptlet errors like this are packaging issues, not dnf ones.

Please provide the transaction log (or at least the packages that were present in it) to help figuring out what the actual failing package is. /var/log/dnf.rpm.log should have the data.

Comment 2 Leslie Satenstein 2018-08-25 00:37:02 UTC
I handwrote/ took note of the rpm package and error message

DNF Fatal ERROR

Error in Postin scriptlet in rpm package textfonts --hebrew missing.

textfonts.rpm is not in F28 repositories, so I do not know what else is missing.

Comment 3 Panu Matilainen 2018-08-27 06:16:31 UTC
I didn't ask about the error because it appears to be a typo in some package, which is why it would be useful to know the transaction contents to narrow it down. The reproduction steps are vague to put it mildy but looking closer I guess this is on initial system install. Tossing in the general direction of tex-fonts-hebrew whose %post scriptlet might be the one failing here. That said, dnf should not *abort* the whole thing on %post failures if that's what really happened here.

Comment 4 Leslie Satenstein 2018-08-29 00:18:05 UTC
Similar problem with

container-selinux-2.71-1.git5721d74.fc29.noarch.rpm
tex-fonts-hebrew-0.1-28.fc29.noarch.rpm

I am trying to do a clean installation of Fedora 29 with Gnome.

As these rpms get repaired, I will land on the next one(s).

Every new dated version is what I test.

Comment 5 Leslie Satenstein 2018-09-04 14:25:14 UTC
Please use the most recent tex-fonts from F28.
These installed cleanly three days ago.

Comment 6 Leslie Satenstein 2018-09-25 17:02:07 UTC
This bug fails Fedora29 Beta-1.5 Gnome installation from network version.

If you can't install the beta then there is a real issue to resolved.

It fails with textfonts using the OFFICIAL BETA-1.5
How to duplicate

Install using the Workstation-network-install ISO.
Select development files, authoring files, libreoffice and a few other groups related groups.

During the dnf run to install that rpm the system will crash.
Unable to continue. Anaconda quits. Installation is stopped.

Since I do not have F29 installed, my attempts at
sudo dnf provides txtfonts-hebrew* fails.

However using Fedora 28

root@rfr28 tmp]$ dnf provides tex-fonts-hebrew*

Comment 7 Leslie Satenstein 2018-09-25 18:43:27 UTC
It may be due to Latex and from trial and error, it appears to be Authoring group under the Gnome workstation setup.

Similar problem if trying to install F29 KDE

Comment 9 Leslie Satenstein 2018-10-08 19:11:00 UTC
This problem crashes dnf which in turn crashes anaconda.
The F29 installation fails as unbootable system for both Gome and KDE.

I would say that this is a F29 Blocker problem.

Comment 10 Leslie Satenstein 2018-10-13 00:32:10 UTC
I cannot complete the GO-GOLD testing

Within anaconda workstation:

 Authoring and Publishing

Does DNF crashing and Anaconda quitting qualify this bug as a blocker?

There is no recourse to [quit]

Comment 11 Adam Williamson 2018-10-13 02:49:10 UTC
not if you have to pick a non-standard additional group that is not on the Server DVD, no. It would be good to fix it, though.

Comment 12 Leslie Satenstein 2018-10-15 01:10:04 UTC
Hi Adam. Thank you for intevening.

So far, that workspace selection "Authoring and Publishing" crashes anaconda. When omitting this group from the Anaconda menu, the installation completes.

Comment 13 Leslie Satenstein 2018-10-24 05:43:34 UTC
Still a problem with anaconda crashing

Bug 1621922 F29 install failure with txtfonts.

This ISO Fedora-Workstation-netinst-x86_64-29-1.2.iso fails to install as anaconda crashes before completion of dnf installation of downloaded rpms

Comment 18 Adam Williamson 2018-11-03 03:52:26 UTC
Yes. Because of 1555931. That's why we closed it as a dupe. They are the same bugbug.
