Michal - do we have any plans to add basic abilities here?

not planned.
Snapshot functionality was not part of Basic User Portal functionality, only Power User Portal had that.

@bpelled, feel free to open upstream issue describing the use case and proposed scope/design

Comment 3 RHV bug bot 2018-08-27 12:27:27 UTC
Snapshots management is a basic feature to allow user to be independent and not need oVirt admin to micro manage the users.
I proposing this as high priority for 4.2 as I expect users to hit this issue on GA and have a poor transition experience from the old user portal.

snapshot support is being actively worked on in upstream, we're looking tentatively to include an update in 4.2.6

In legacy view you can edit the snapshot part of the vm by creating new snapshot (which makes a new snapshot with given name and description, adds it to the snapshots list and increases the number next to the word Snapshots in the new view), deleting the created snapshot (delete button is only accessible when you click on the edit button next to the Snapshots unlike the restore button, right after you confirm deleting the snapshot's name is crossed out until it's actually deleted - then it disappears from the list) and restoring the vm with the created snapshot (if vm is down/off, restores the vm to the state in what is was when the snapshot was created).

(only thing missing is the clone button compared to the webadmin)

Verified: ovirt-engine-4.2.6.4-0.1.el7ev.noarch, ovirt-web-ui-1.4.2-1.el7ev.noarch
