Description John Harrigan 2018-11-17 21:29:42 UTC
Description of problem:
the ceph lvm batch mode and it's usage with ceph-ansible needs to be more fully documented, including examples of various hardware configurations. Examples should be provided for these configurations:
  * multiple HDDs with single NVMe
  * multiple HDDs and multiple NVMe's

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
RHCS 3.2

Installation Guide for RHEL
Chapter 3.2, table 3.2 needs to be updated to cover 'ceph lvm batch' mode

Comment 4 John Harrigan 2018-11-28 17:40:19 UTC
I read the preview links which cover the limited cfgs doc'd upstream.
I think we need to provide our customers more information on prescribed usage
for multiple NVMe configurations.

Specific ask was for
> Examples should be provided for these configurations:
> * multiple HDDs with single NVMe
> * multiple HDDs and multiple NVMe's

Comment 5 Tiffany Nguyen 2018-11-28 17:45:17 UTC
Review link doesn't have example of single and multiple NVMe's configuration. Please update the doc as requested in bz.

Comment 9 Tiffany Nguyen 2018-11-29 21:56:57 UTC
I have reviewed the doc. Everything looks good except scenario with 2 NVMes and 4 HDDs. Two bzs below were filed in this area:

 https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1650306
 https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1654441

I will wait for these issues to resolve and review the doc again to ensure we provide correct info to user.

Comment 10 Tiffany Nguyen 2018-12-05 17:13:29 UTC
Doc looks good for 2 NVMes scenario. Support multiple NVMe installation according to best practices will be tracked in this bz:
