Note: This bug is displayed in read-only format because the product is no longer active in Red Hat Bugzilla.
RHEL Engineering is moving the tracking of its product development work on RHEL 6 through RHEL 9 to Red Hat Jira (issues.redhat.com). If you're a Red Hat customer, please continue to file support cases via the Red Hat customer portal. If you're not, please head to the "RHEL project" in Red Hat Jira and file new tickets here. Individual Bugzilla bugs in the statuses "NEW", "ASSIGNED", and "POST" are being migrated throughout September 2023. Bugs of Red Hat partners with an assigned Engineering Partner Manager (EPM) are migrated in late September as per pre-agreed dates. Bugs against components "kernel", "kernel-rt", and "kpatch" are only migrated if still in "NEW" or "ASSIGNED". If you cannot log in to RH Jira, please consult article #7032570. That failing, please send an e-mail to the RH Jira admins at rh-issues@redhat.com to troubleshoot your issue as a user management inquiry. The email creates a ServiceNow ticket with Red Hat. Individual Bugzilla bugs that are migrated will be moved to status "CLOSED", resolution "MIGRATED", and set with "MigratedToJIRA" in "Keywords". The link to the successor Jira issue will be found under "Links", have a little "two-footprint" icon next to it, and direct you to the "RHEL project" in Red Hat Jira (issue links are of type "https://issues.redhat.com/browse/RHEL-XXXX", where "X" is a digit). This same link will be available in a blue banner at the top of the page informing you that that bug has been migrated.

Description Pavel Cahyna 2019-02-15 17:59:29 UTC
+++ This bug was initially created as a clone of Bug #1655956 +++

Description of problem:

Usually $BUILD_DIR hosted on /tmp and hence automatically excluded from the backup.
When specifying $TMPDIR, $BUILD_DIR was not excluded from the backup.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):

All

How reproducible:

Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Specify a TMPDIR alternate directory in environment or /etc/rear/{local,site}.conf

  # mkdir /temporary
  # TMPDIR=/temporary rear mkbackup

2. Check the backup content

  # tar tzvf /path/to/the/backup.tar.gz | grep "^temporary/rear"

Actual results:

  drwxr-xr-x root/root 0 2018-12-04 10:44 temporary/rear.XXX

Expected results:

  No rear temp directory

Comment 1 Fedora Blocker Bugs Application 2019-03-04 16:34:27 UTC
Proposed as a Freeze Exception for 30-beta by Fedora user jlanda using the blocker tracking app because:

Gnome 3.32 changed System folder to Utilities in gnome-shell. This would be great to be fixed for f30

This must be a mistake.

Comment 3 Adam Williamson 2019-03-04 17:08:33 UTC
Yeah, it was a typo by someone using the Fedora blocker bugs webapp - sorry about that.

Comment 4 Pavel Cahyna 2019-05-28 08:26:30 UTC
Moving to 8.1.0, I think 8.0.1 was my mistake. There is not other 8.0.1 bug for ReaR and the branch was not created.
