Note: This bug is displayed in read-only format because the product is no longer active in Red Hat Bugzilla.
Red Hat Satellite engineering is moving the tracking of its product development work on Satellite to Red Hat Jira (issues.redhat.com). If you're a Red Hat customer, please continue to file support cases via the Red Hat customer portal. If you're not, please head to the "Satellite project" in Red Hat Jira and file new tickets here. Individual Bugzilla bugs will be migrated starting at the end of May. If you cannot log in to RH Jira, please consult article #7032570. That failing, please send an e-mail to the RH Jira admins at rh-issues@redhat.com to troubleshoot your issue as a user management inquiry. The email creates a ServiceNow ticket with Red Hat. Individual Bugzilla bugs that are migrated will be moved to status "CLOSED", resolution "MIGRATED", and set with "MigratedToJIRA" in "Keywords". The link to the successor Jira issue will be found under "Links", have a little "two-footprint" icon next to it, and direct you to the "Satellite project" in Red Hat Jira (issue links are of type "https://issues.redhat.com/browse/SAT-XXXX", where "X" is a digit). This same link will be available in a blue banner at the top of the page informing you that that bug has been migrated.

Comment 3 Dominik Matoulek 2020-01-15 08:49:15 UTC
Created redmine issue https://projects.theforeman.org/issues/28754 from this bug

Comment 4 Bryan Kearney 2020-02-17 11:06:42 UTC
Moving this bug to POST for triage into Satellite 6 since the upstream issue https://projects.theforeman.org/issues/28754 has been resolved.

Comment 6 Dominik Matoulek 2020-07-07 10:38:09 UTC
Expected behavior for adding VM through CLI should be same as usual. So the MAC is not the same as user specified. I will prepare the PR for Hammer with warning message.

Comment 9 Bryan Kearney 2020-07-28 16:02:40 UTC
Upstream bug assigned to dmatoule

Comment 10 Tomer Brisker 2020-08-20 08:47:11 UTC
Connecting redmine issue https://projects.theforeman.org/issues/30627 from this bug

Comment 13 Roman Plevka 2020-09-09 09:30:02 UTC
FAILED QA
- the MAC address field is still enabled (and required) when creating a host from a hostgroup - if the host inherits from HG's compute resource, the form doesn't disable the MAC field and keeps requiring filling it.

Comment 20 Roman Plevka 2020-09-21 13:25:33 UTC
VERIFIED
on sat6.8.0-16

- the MAC address is only required when applicable.
- the hostgroup inheritance behaviour is fixed
- hammer host create behavior is correct
