Created attachment 1575302 [details] Screen of the bad tray icons. Description of problem: System tray icons on the panel don't render correctly. Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): Don't know How reproducible: A Java program I wrote uses a .png file with a transparent background as an icon and this renders fine but every other program I have tried after upgrading last night does not work. Steps to Reproduce: 1.Run a program that uses the system try and then look the icons 2. 3. Actual results: They have black around them. Expected results: Icons look normal Additional info: See screenshot.
What theme do you have enabled? The default? Something else? This may be theme dependent...
I am using "Glossy" in the appearance control panel and a 3rd party "Windows 7" theme(called X-Aero) in the "Window Manager" control panel. Funny, I tried changing them and at the time of writing now only Pidgen has black corruption. I'll try and remember to report here next time I log in.
On the first login, icons appear like the screenshot when using the themes mentioned above. What tests do you want me to do?
Also what other info can I provide?
This is happening to me on a machine I recently upgraded to Fedora 29. I typically have 3 or 4 icons up there, and they all have a black background. As far as I know, all my "theming" is the default. This is different than with Fedora 28, where occasionally an icon would be superimposed on a background consisting of its neighboring icon. That seems to have been fixed.
Same problem for me when the "XFCE compositor" is disabled. To enable (but it leads to higher CPU rates on my i5 processor laptop): xfwm4-tweaks-settings > Compositor > [x] Enable display compositing. Then the icons in the panel tray are rendered properly. Btw., see the bug #1647089 -- looks like a duplicate
This message is a reminder that Fedora 29 is nearing its end of life. Fedora will stop maintaining and issuing updates for Fedora 29 on 2019-11-26. It is Fedora's policy to close all bug reports from releases that are no longer maintained. At that time this bug will be closed as EOL if it remains open with a Fedora 'version' of '29'. Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, simply change the 'version' to a later Fedora version. Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that we were not able to fix it before Fedora 29 is end of life. If you would still like to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it against a later version of Fedora, you are encouraged change the 'version' to a later Fedora version prior this bug is closed as described in the policy above. Although we aim to fix as many bugs as possible during every release's lifetime, sometimes those efforts are overtaken by events. Often a more recent Fedora release includes newer upstream software that fixes bugs or makes them obsolete.
Fedora 29 changed to end-of-life (EOL) status on 2019-11-26. Fedora 29 is no longer maintained, which means that it will not receive any further security or bug fix updates.
