There's some gcj in that stack, but I don't think the help system uses java, and I don't see the help libs in the stack. Might not be the help itself that actually crashed. Did you have anything else going on at the time, e.g. some sample OOo java example components running or anything ?

I think I had some Organize Macros dialog open, which fires up java. I'll see if I can reproduce.
Personally I'm real suspicious of < gcc 4.0.2, e.g. I'm not sure if http://gcc.gnu.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=22132 is lurking still in 4.0.1, if so I think pretty much anything could be happening :-(
This has got to be an icu problem, layouting from corrupt character layout data which would explain all, always in the OutputDevice rendering area and intermittent *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 172940 ***
