Description chotaire+fedora 2019-09-25 22:23:28 UTC
Description of problem:

jwhois got dropped from CentOS8. Since jwhois is very outdated and the jwhois.conf file has last seen an update of whois servers in 2015, it would be a good idea to include the whois package from Fedora which includes the whois client by Marco d'Itri ( https://github.com/rfc1036/whois ). Package maintainer is Petr Pisar from Redhat.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):

whois-5.5.1-1.fc32

How reproducible:

Install CentOS8 Stream and try to install a whois client.

Steps to Reproduce:

1. dnf install epel-release
2. dnf config-manager --set-enabled PowerTools
3. dnf search whois

Actual results:

No package available.

Expected results:

A whois client is available for installation, at least from EPEL.

Additional info:

Happy Release Day CentOS!
