Why is the version in Fedora so freaking old? https://code.videolan.org/videolan/dav1d/-/releases 0.4.0 5f63e531 0.4.0 • released 3 months ago 0.5.1 bb160f09 0.5.1 • released 2 weeks ago
Pushing a new build takes at most 10 minutes of your time because there's practically nothing to fix in the spec file aside from version. Also why are you using a gzip archive instead of bz2? Also why is taking so long?
Aren't you subscribed to bugzilla mails? You already have a bug report indicating a new release.
I'm sort of spamming right now and for a reason. You didn't release version 0.5.0 and now 0.5.1 has already been out for more than two weeks.
So, hopefully now you'll pay a little bit more attention to the fact that you're not quite maintaining this package.
Thank you for your attention! And I'm sorry for being kinda annoying.
Is the maintainer of this package available?
What can I do to make this update happen?
The maintainer of this package as well as dozens of other packages in Fedora has been missing for over a year now given the fact that these packages haven't been updated in this time period. What does Fedora do in this case?
Please stop badgering us. It is not reasonable to expect response times this quickly with volunteers who are spending their free time to do this work. For what it's worth, Robert-André Mauchin did in fact update dav1d to 0.5.0 in Rawhide a month ago[1]. When Fedora 32 arrives next spring, it will be on 0.5.x releases. As for why it's not getting updated in Fedora 31 and older: updating from 0.4.x to 0.5.0 triggers an ABI breakage, which is not normally allowed in stable releases[2]. (In reply to Artem S. Tashkinov from comment #3) > I'm sort of spamming right now and for a reason. > > You didn't release version 0.5.0 and now 0.5.1 has already been out for more > than two weeks. Version 0.5.0 was implying a SONAME bump and it was too late to include it before F31 release, it was thus updated in F32. Now that F31 is released, I'm exceptionally updating it despite ABI breakage. I am updating the related package as we speak (ffmpeg, vlc, xine). Version 0.5.1 was delayed because I was on a break. It will be available in updates-testing in the following days on F31/F32/EPEL8.
