Description Bohdan Milar 2020-03-30 19:21:10 UTC
Description of problem:
The problem was noticed while installing Fedora 32 Workstation (Gnome) from live image. In the Installation Destination section, there is a list of usable discs. In older versions, the selected list item was described by the Orca screen reader. Now Orca says nothing or the focused drive's name only.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
anaconda-32.24.3-1.fc32.x86_64

How reproducible:
Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Boot the Live Fedora 32 Workstation installation image under X session.
2. Launch Orca with Alt + Super + s (and adjust sound volume).
3. Launch Anaconda installer and go to its main menu/screen.
4. Choose "Installation Destination".
5. Try to change focused discs in the provided list using left/right arrow keys.

Actual results:
Orca says nothing or the focused drive's name only.

Expected results:
Orca says the name of the focused drive and its status, checked or unchecked.

Additional info:
The issue was discovered by Pavel Vlček (CC). I reported it, because Bugzilla also has some accessibility issues.

Comment 2 Fedora Program Management 2021-04-29 16:16:05 UTC
This message is a reminder that Fedora 32 is nearing its end of life.
Fedora will stop maintaining and issuing updates for Fedora 32 on 2021-05-25.
It is Fedora's policy to close all bug reports from releases that are no longer
maintained. At that time this bug will be closed as EOL if it remains open with a
Fedora 'version' of '32'.

Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you
plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, simply change the 'version'
to a later Fedora version.

Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that we were not
able to fix it before Fedora 32 is end of life. If you would still like
to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it against a later version
of Fedora, you are encouraged change the 'version' to a later Fedora
version prior this bug is closed as described in the policy above.

Although we aim to fix as many bugs as possible during every release's
lifetime, sometimes those efforts are overtaken by events. Often a
more recent Fedora release includes newer upstream software that fixes
bugs or makes them obsolete.

Comment 3 Vladimír Slávik 2021-05-04 18:39:22 UTC
Switching version because this has not been fixed yet.

Orca did not work on Live, but there were some developments wrt. the at-spi bus recently. This might actually become fixable again.

This bug appears to have been reported against 'rawhide' during the Fedora 35 development cycle.
Changing version to 35.

Fedora Linux 35 entered end-of-life (EOL) status on 2022-12-13.

Fedora Linux 35 is no longer maintained, which means that it
will not receive any further security or bug fix updates. As a result we
are closing this bug.

please feel free to reopen this bug against that version. Note that the version
field may be hidden. Click the "Show advanced fields" button if you do not see
