Description Honza Horak 2020-07-10 10:40:29 UTC
Description of problem:
MongoDB was retired from Fedora due to the license issues some time ago (see https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1677379).

This should be done in EPEL7 as well, since shipping pretty old version there is not safe, nor useful.

Most of the CVE fixes are released with a license that does not allow to apply them upstream, so the mongodb package is de-facto unmaintained.

I am not against this.
I just want to remind people that this is a major thing and we need to announce it both on epel-devel and epel-announce early, and possibly often.
Just so it doesn't come as a surprise to people.

Any update here?

Comment 3 Patrik Novotný 2020-09-22 12:03:44 UTC
The epel-announce and epel-devel has been notified. Let's give it some time now, before making the change.

Comment 4 Patrik Novotný 2020-10-20 12:41:06 UTC
The mongodb package has been dropped from epel7.
