Output of kernel logs

1. Please describe the problem:
After booting, touchscreen works for few seconds and stops

2. What is the Version-Release number of the kernel:

5.10.9 (from koji)

3. Did it work previously in Fedora? If so, what kernel version did the issue
*first* appear? Old kernels are available for download at
   https://koji.fedoraproject.org/koji/packageinfo?packageID=8
It worked till 5.9.7, the first version with problems is 5.10.8

4. Can you reproduce this issue? If so, please provide the steps to reproduce
   the issue below:

Boot the laptop (HP Pro x2 612 G2), the cursor moves for a few seconds with the fingers in the touchscreen and stop. It is the same behaviour before or after login in a personal account.

5. Does this problem occur with the latest Rawhide kernel? To install the
Rawhide kernel, run ``sudo dnf install fedora-repos-rawhide`` followed by
   ``sudo dnf update --enablerepo=rawhide kernel``:

Not yet checked. I wonder if https://bugs.archlinux.org/task/69375 is related

6. Are you running any modules that not shipped with directly Fedora's kernel?:

Yes, evdi and v4l2loopback_dc

7. Please attach the kernel logs. You can get the complete kernel log
   for a boot with ``journalctl --no-hostname -k > dmesg.txt``. If the
issue occurred on a previous boot, use the journalctl ``-b`` flag.

Though downgrading the kernel solves the problem, https://github.com/linuxwacom/input-wacom/issues/230#issuecomment-764589102 may indicate libwacom is also involved.

On my Lenovo Yoga X1 2nd generation, kernel-5.10.8, touching the screen with a stylus (the built-in one or a Bamboo pen) instantly locks the entire machine. kernel-5.10.7 works fine.

Comment 3 Matthew Saltzman 2021-01-22 00:10:44 UTC
The libwacom bug describes my issue exactly, but it works fine with the 5.10.7 kernel and only shows up with the 5.10.8 one.

I have the same machine and experienced exactly the same symptom. Touching the screen with the stylus locks the system with kernels 5.10.8 and 5.10.9. I have reverted to kernel 5.10.7 at the moment.

In the input-wacom thread above, it has been solved in kernel 5.10.10 in arch. I tried the koji RPMs, the problem is still there.

That was a kernel patched by Arch. Hopefully, this patch can be added here soon.

Thanks for the point. I tried the solution in https://github.com/linuxwacom/input-wacom/issues/230#issuecomment-766953885 with kernel 5.10.10 and it works!

Comment 8 Ethan Bowering 2021-01-27 14:31:32 UTC
I have the same issue, I after updating to 5.10, touching the screen with the stylus locks up the system, and I have to hold power button to restart.

I will try the fix in the github link.

Comment 9 artal 2021-01-27 21:13:52 UTC
Fedora kernel 5.10.11 solves the issue, at least in my laptop. Thanks!
