RHEL Engineering is moving the tracking of its product development work on RHEL 6 through RHEL 9 to Red Hat Jira (issues.redhat.com). If you're a Red Hat customer, please continue to file support cases via the Red Hat customer portal. If you're not, please head to the "RHEL project" in Red Hat Jira and file new tickets here. Individual Bugzilla bugs in the statuses "NEW", "ASSIGNED", and "POST" are being migrated throughout September 2023. Bugs of Red Hat partners with an assigned Engineering Partner Manager (EPM) are migrated in late September as per pre-agreed dates. Bugs against components "kernel", "kernel-rt", and "kpatch" are only migrated if still in "NEW" or "ASSIGNED". If you cannot log in to RH Jira, please consult article #7032570. Individual Bugzilla bugs that are migrated will be moved to status "CLOSED", resolution "MIGRATED", and set with "MigratedToJIRA" in "Keywords". The link to the successor Jira issue will be found under "Links", have a little "two-footprint" icon next to it, and direct you to the "RHEL project" in Red Hat Jira (issue links are of type "https://issues.redhat.com/browse/RHEL-XXXX", where "X" is a digit). This same link will be available in a blue banner at the top of the page informing you that that bug has been migrated.

Failed bug report submission during installation

Description of problem:

When installing Red Hat Enterprise Linux in a virtual machine the installation fails when the progress bar reaches 'Configuring Red Hat Installation'. When trying to report as a bug from within the installer, submission of the bug fails. Please see attached screenshot.

Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8.3 (boot ISO)

How reproducible:

Every time

Steps to Reproduce:

1. Install RHEL 8.3 in KVM virtual machine using rhel-8.3-x86_64-boot.iso
2. Register the installation with Red Hat
3. Begin the installation
4. When the installer reaches 'Configuring Red Hat Subscription' the installation fails
5. When using the bug reporter that pops up, submission of the bug report fails. Please see attached screenshot.

Actual results:

Resultant system is not installed correctly

Additional info:

VM is configured in virt-manager as follows:

1. CPU topology 1 socket, 4 cores, 1 thread
2. 20GB virtual HDD
3. 8GB memory

During installation the following options are chosen:

1. Enable network card and set hostname
2. Register system against Red Hat subscription
3. Choose minimal install with network, container, headless and system tools
4. Set timezone and enable NTP
5. Choose virtual HDD for installation

This could be the same problem as described in bug 1931069.
Can you please confirm that the workaround in bug 1931069#c4 also works for you?
