RHEL Engineering is moving the tracking of its product development work on RHEL 6 through RHEL 9 to Red Hat Jira (issues.redhat.com). If you're a Red Hat customer, please continue to file support cases via the Red Hat customer portal. If you're not, please head to the "RHEL project" in Red Hat Jira and file new tickets here. Individual Bugzilla bugs in the statuses "NEW", "ASSIGNED", and "POST" are being migrated throughout September 2023. Bugs of Red Hat partners with an assigned Engineering Partner Manager (EPM) are migrated in late September as per pre-agreed dates. Bugs against components "kernel", "kernel-rt", and "kpatch" are only migrated if still in "NEW" or "ASSIGNED". If you cannot log in to RH Jira, please consult article #7032570. That failing, please send an e-mail to the RH Jira admins at rh-issues@redhat.com to troubleshoot your issue as a user management inquiry. The email creates a ServiceNow ticket with Red Hat. Individual Bugzilla bugs that are migrated will be moved to status "CLOSED", resolution "MIGRATED", and set with "MigratedToJIRA" in "Keywords". The link to the successor Jira issue will be found under "Links", have a little "two-footprint" icon next to it, and direct you to the "RHEL project" in Red Hat Jira (issue links are of type "https://issues.redhat.com/browse/RHEL-XXXX", where "X" is a digit). This same link will be available in a blue banner at the top of the page informing you that that bug has been migrated.

Subscription-manager shows a screen "Unable to connect" for few seconds before it gets the data. I'm running it as a VM, the system is subscribed and connected to external network. After few seconds the system appears to as connected. See attached screencast.

Comment 1 Pino Toscano 2022-02-01 18:31:50 UTC
Ah yes, this bug. It was reported already by QE some time ago for RHEL 8 (bug 1822242), and it is mostly a cosmetic issue.

Since I got it often enough (and annoyingly enough, I'd say) while trying to debug some other cockpit-sub-man issue, I attempted a fix for it:
https://github.com/candlepin/subscription-manager/pull/2957

Comment 7 Chris Snyder 2022-02-14 16:17:44 UTC
After further discussion with the team we will be deferring this to 9.1.0.

Comment 9 Jan Stavel 2022-06-24 13:48:24 UTC
verified - no error message appear after subscription plugin is run.

server type: This system is currently not registered.
    subscription management server: 3.2.22-1
    subscription management rules: 5.41
    subscription-manager: 1.29.28+23.gf26e4bae5-1.git.0.5e15582

I have open firefox with cockpit plugin.
I have click on 'Subscriptions' plugin
I see a message 'Loading status'

I see a status of entitlement after a while. No error message appears even for a short time.

Comment 13 Jan Stavel 2022-07-25 13:22:22 UTC
The fix works. IE. I do not see any error message during aploading data.

I have applied a debug patch for dbus Config.GetAll method to slow down.
I have applied a debug patch even for dbus Entitlement.GetStatus to slow down a response.

I have opened firefox and Subscriptions app in Cockpit.

no temporary message appears. Just 'Uploading data' appears.

a debug messages in rhsm.log:

    Jul 25 16:14:11 kvm-01-guest16.rhts.eng.tlv.redhat.com rhsm-service[35158]: INFO [rhsmlib.dbus.objects.config:180] Config.GetAll will wait for 6.564271903887786 seconds for debug purpose
    Jul 25 16:14:18 kvm-01-guest16.rhts.eng.tlv.redhat.com rhsm-service[35158]: INFO [rhsmlib.dbus.objects.config:182] Config.GetAll will send a response back now

I have attached ansible playbook for this usecase. You can see the applied patches in the playbook too.
