Description of problem: Problems occur when using the default KDE theme (Breeze). The theme itself changes to dark or distorted. Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): Fedora 35, Fedora 36 beta, Fedora Rawhide 06.04.2022 How reproducible: After installing the system, go to the KDE Settings. Despite the fact that the Fedora theme (similar to the Breeze Twilight) is enabled, in the settings you cannot enable the light theme in the quick settings window or the Breeze theme in the theme settings. First you need to turn on the dark design or change the theme to another one. After that, you can switch to a light theme or a Breeze theme. If the Breeze theme is selected, then after restarting the system, the theme may change to a dark or distorted theme with a light background and white letters. Light symbols will display the clock and the main menu of KDE. Also, the theme changes when you start the KDE settings. Usually it is replaced by a dark theme, while the light theme and breeze in the settings are considered selected and cannot be turned on without additional manipulations. There is another problem in the Rawhide version of 06 apr 2022. Even if you select a light theme, the Breeze theme is not applied. The KDE panel and main menu remain dark. Similar problems are not observed in KDE Neon. Actual results: The issues are caused by the LOOKANDFEEL patch and are not reproducible on other system. The build with the undo of the patch solves the problems, but it was not possible to completely roll back this patch, but it was possible to solve the problem with the Breeze theme by removing parts of the patch and rebuilding the plasma-workspace for x11 and wayland. Hack. Temporarily solves problems. Now you can not customize the theme, because. this will remove the changes and the bug will come back again. ``` [Theme] name=default ``` The hack allows you to enable a light theme in the current rawhide.

KDE Fedora still uses a custom theme named "Fedora" and sets it as the default one. The theme was created a long time ago and was supposed to configure some basic stuff like fonts, basic theme colors, and other tweaks. KDE Plasma now has one more default theme that does what Fedora was doing, something like a black system theme and white windows, called "Breeze Twilight". The black and white theme is just one of the configurations that are set. Fonts in Fedora-KDE come "tweaked" as well. I'll try to map where these configuration comes from, but I suspect its from plasma-lookandfeel-fedora package. It is part of the default KDE installation in Fedora, but I'm not sure it should be used anymore, since it's been broken for a long time now.
This message is a reminder that Fedora Linux 35 is nearing its end of life. Fedora will stop maintaining and issuing updates for Fedora Linux 35 on 2022-12-13. It is Fedora's policy to close all bug reports from releases that are no longer maintained. At that time this bug will be closed as EOL if it remains open with a 'version' of '35'.
