Description Michel Alexandre Salim 2023-06-14 18:09:08 UTC
Please branch and build python-flit-core in epel9.

If you do not wish to maintain python-flit-core in epel9,
or do not think you will be able to do this in a timely manner,
the EPEL Packagers SIG would be happy to be a co-maintainer of the package;
please add the epel-packagers-sig group through
https://src.fedoraproject.org/rpms/python-flit-core/addgroup
and grant it commit access, or collaborator access on epel* branches.

I would also be happy to be a co-maintainer (FAS: salimma);
please add me through https://src.fedoraproject.org/rpms/python-flit-core/adduser

epel9 already has python-flit-3.4.0-1.el9 which builds python3-flit-core-3.4.0-1.el9.noarch.rpm

Comment 2 Michel Alexandre Salim 2023-06-14 19:54:25 UTC
Turns out awscli2 needs a newer flit-core (>- 3.7.1); I've modified the request accordingly and taken it.

This builds fine (flit itself needs to be upgraded of course) with a minor patch to require tomli on RHEL < 10 (the automatic BR did not catch this) but given the DNS outage I can't put up the PR yet

Comment 3 Miro Hrončok 2023-06-14 20:43:07 UTC
I don't think it's smart to branch and build python-flit-core in epel9. It might be easier to simply update python-flit instead if it is backwards compatible. Or update and then split it the way Fedora has split it.

Either way, please coordinate this with @gotmax23 rather than pushing directly.

Comment 4 Michel Alexandre Salim 2023-06-20 20:43:52 UTC
Ack. Will update this and python-flit in combination - but definitely will put up PRs rather than landing this directly.
