This looks like a duplicate of this bug report:
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=2272149

If so, can you test with today's updates?
Notably, the update to glycin-loaders version 1.0.1 from this update should fix the problem:
https://bodhi.fedoraproject.org/updates/FEDORA-2024-2d6f70c275

Comment 2 cornel panceac 2024-04-04 04:45:31 UTC
Thank you Fabio. After today's updates, (including glycin-loaders-0.1.2-4.fc40.x86_64) the .png and .jpg files can be opened with 'Image Viewer'.
On a side note, i have the feeling it's a little slow, but maybe it's just my wrong perception.
Thank you for fixing this. From my side the ticket can be closed.

Thanks for checking! I'm closing this as a duplicate then.
