Comment 9 Russell Doty 2007-04-25 18:52:32 UTC
Escalated to High priority - need engineering feedback. What are the
implications of this message?

Comment 10 Andy Gospodarek 2007-04-25 19:06:03 UTC
Generally this happens because of some interesting pci quirk and though the
driver is complaining it isn't really critical. I'll see if there are any
workarounds to address this.

John Linville hasn't been doing RHEL4 test kernels lately, he's left that up to
me. If they are willing to test some of these out they can try the ones here:

http://people.redhat.com/agospoda/#rhel4

Thanks!

Comment 12 Andy Gospodarek 2007-04-30 18:07:09 UTC
Thanks for the feedback. I'll take a look at this in more detail.

Comment 17 Andy Gospodarek 2007-05-01 14:31:59 UTC
Do we have one of the systems like the customer has that we can use for testing?
It seems there should be an entry in the lastest rhel4 and rhel5 kernels (like
in my test kernels), but it doesn't seem like the entry in quirks.c is doing
anything....

Comment 21 Andy Gospodarek 2007-05-01 21:04:33 UTC
Test kernels for this issue will be available here:

http://people.redhat.com/agospoda/#rhel4

Please test them and report back the results. Thanks!

committed in stream U6 build 55.24. A test kernel with this patch is available
from http://people.redhat.com/~jbaron/rhel4/

Comment 29 Patrick C. F. Ernzer 2007-07-31 15:42:37 UTC
Jason,
thanks for this. I just tested 2.6.9-55.25.ELsmp and it works as expected for
this bug.

Please provide more information on the type of bnx2 chip (5706/5708), type of
system, lspci, etc.

Comment 32 Andy Gospodarek 2007-09-06 17:04:27 UTC
Michael, I made some of the private comments public -- sorry about that. Let me
know if you need more info.

Comment 33 Michael Chan 2007-09-10 18:54:22 UTC
MSI failure was due to BIOS not setting HT_MSI_FLAGS_ENABLE bit in the
HyperTransport MSI mapping capability of the HT-to-PCI bridge (PCI device
0:1.0). The patch to detect this problem and apply the proper quirk is in the
link below.

*** Bug 205520 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. ***

Comment 39 Aleksandar Milivojevic 2007-10-06 14:04:52 UTC
Bug 205520 (publicly accessible) was marked as duplicate of this bug (not publicly accessible). I do not
see anything in this bug report (or comments) that looks like sensitive information. Unless you guys
are under some NDA with hardware manufacturer and are discussing parts of hardware designed
covered with that particular NDA.

If this bug is intended to be internal discussion between Red Hat and Broadcom engineers, please
reopen bug 205520 and mark it to depend on this bug instead of marking it as duplicate (and remove
me from CC in that case, I'm in no way under NDA with any of the hardware vendors). If this bug is not
intended to be internal discussion between Red Hat and Broadcom engineers, make it public.

Thanks

Comment 40 Andy Gospodarek 2007-10-08 13:16:44 UTC
Does anyone mind if we make this publicly accessible?

Comment 41 Patrick C. F. Ernzer 2007-10-23 14:14:47 UTC
Andy,
sorry for the long delay. NSN is fine with this being turned public.

Comment 43 Andy Gospodarek 2007-10-23 15:14:12 UTC
Aleksandar, this should now be publicly accessible -- let me know you or anyone
else have any problems accessing it.
