What is the downside of having schrodinger disabled ?

Dirac video never came up beyond BBC and upstream is dead for more than 10 years...

While dirac is probably not that widespread, I would say comprehensiveness and divergence with Fedora.
Imho, if/when Fedora's ffmpeg drops the BR on schroedinger, then it would be fine not to have it in EPEL 10, but not until that.

Fedora can drop libschrodinger at anytime, it will be dropped from the Fedora maintained distribution within a year or so.
But for EPEL, the timeline is different, we have a strong incentive not to introduce libraries that

There is a precedent in Fedora where bellagio-omxil was removed, also flite are disabled on RHEL, so it can also be adjusted...

...ntroduce libraries that can be removed thereafter.

Okay, problem solved, schroedinger usage is removed from upstream ffmpeg code, so it's just that the package still have it.
Vlc should use the ffmpeg implementation instead.
