Please branch and build collectd in epel10.

collectd 6.0 is up to rc3, I am thinking of waiting for 6.0 stable to branch this so we're not stuck on 5.x for 10 years.
I agree. But sadly they still haven't progressed anywhere. The website seems offline completely currently, the milestone 6.0 still lists a huge list of open things: https://github.com/collectd/collectd/milestone/18 Got any closer contact with them? Could we create packages "collectd5" and allow replacing them with "collectd6" if users want? There exists no modules-support on EPEL I guess?
Hi everyone — just checking in on the status of building collectd for EPEL 10. Is waiting on 6.0 still the approach? Thanks a lot!
It would be awesome to have collectd available for EL10, I'm working through the base stack at my company and this is one of the last pieces to let use deploy EL10. Checking the releases 6.0.0-rc3 came out in Feb 2024: https://mailman.verplant.org/pipermail/collectd/2024-February/007454.html I'm not really sure that waiting for 6 is a viable option.
Didn't realize there was a ticket for this, I made one - https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=2422292 Can be marked as duplicate. +1 for 5.12. v6 development seems to be stale. I came across this - https://linuxsoft.cern.ch/repos/collectd10el-stable/x86_64/os/Packages/c/ I recompiled it with mock, and it worked for me. But I still wanted to wait for EPEL's as CERN's package is missing write_graphite module/plugin. Copying over manually works but not ideal imo. Thanks!

I'll work to build 5.12 for EPEL10 instead of v6. There are 2 outstanding blockers both of which have corresponding tickets opened. I'll try to keep those blockers moving forward.
Thanks for the help, @jonathan!
Any updates on the collectd package, the bugs for dependent packages have been marked resolved. This is the last piece of software I need for prod roll out of RHEL10 in my organisation.
Ive managed to build the collectd package using mock locally and have it installed/working for the basics I'm doing here. I have noticed the targeted selinux policy doesn't exist for collectd on my host, which it did for EL9 from RHEL package selinux-policy-targeted (seboolean collectd_tcp_network_connect).
Just wondering if there were any updates on this?
